ENHANCING LIVES, CREATING OPPORTUNITIES.
We warmly welcome you and your family to Corryong College, a place of positivity, warmth and inclusiveness that resonates a strong family spirit.
As a Foundation to Year 12 school, we offer cross year group learning, access to a large range of specialised staff and a multitude of highly engaging activities. Our high dedication to a strong learning culture is celebrated through our ability to value-add to each child’s learning pathway.
Our state-of-the-art Early Years Hub provides a foundation teaching model where the culmination of learning through play is highly evident. As your child transitions into the school journey, building a relationship between home and school is the core of our business and a vital part of your child’s learning. The early years nurtures each child as learning unfolds at different stages of their first years of school.
The 4-7 Hub delivers a nurturing environment for students to seamlessly transition through their primary to secondary learning. Students learning is focused on each student’s point of need and celebrated through form group assemblies, student-led conferences, and school displays. Strong emphasis is placed on building aspirations and enthusiasm within a nurturing learning environment.
We deliver an explicit literacy instruction model based on the effective evidence-based learning process of MSL (Multi-Sensory Structured Language). These facilitate learning for all students by explicitly teaching the tools required to empower each child to become successful readers and writers.
Numeracy is taught through highly explicit instruction and like our other learning programs, through methods of gradual release of responsibility. This commences from modelled practice by the teacher, shared practice as a class, supported practice within groups, to small peer partnerships, then independently. Intervention and further teacher supported activities are engaged when difficulty is evident.
Other areas of learning are also highly regarded and taught through engaging interactive activities that include indoor, outdoor, tactile, visual and auditory learning. We engage in many community projects and activities, so students gain a sense of community.
Parents and carers are encouraged to engage in school activities, attend information sessions to learn with staff as well as open themselves to the support that our school facilitates to ensure you are supported in the growth and development of your child.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our learning community.
